don't curse

Honestly I think the thing I get asked most is "does the bible say that it is a sin to curse". Honestly I don't know But looking at this scripture it sure does tell me not to curse or use foul language. Ephesians 4:29 (New Living Translation) "Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them." What do you think?

shaking in my boots

Today I took my lunch and went shopping for some shirts. I prayed that I would be strong enough to hand out tracts to someone while I was out. Leaving for lunch I moved the 5 tracts that I had left in my back pocket to my front pocket for easy access. What I discovered was two things. First of all I was SCARED TO DEATH to walk up to someone and say "here this is for you" then turn around and walk away. Part of me thought "what would they think about me if I did that". I don't think this is a very good thing and belief it was straight from the devil coaxing me not to witness for God. The second thing I noticed is that people don't look at other people while they are out. They have their head down walking along like no one else is around. I have really never noticed this before.
Anyway, back to my story. I went to two different stores and could not muster up enough nerve to even hand out a tract let alone talk to them about their salvation. Finally, running out of time, I decided to buy a pop from Arby's. Granted I didn't need such a thing but I was determined to pass one tract out now. My plan was this: drive up to the window, order a coke, pay the lady at the window, get my coke, hand her the tract and buzz off. Well, I then realized that if I rolled my window down it would not roll back up! So, I went inside to order the pop. I got the rippin huge kidney buster and she handed me the cup. I said "here this is for you". She said "thank you" and I ran away!
Man that was fun. I can't wait to do it again. What a rush. And I did nothing there but hand her a card!

read your bible and stuff

So my buddy Eric Crouch sent me an email this week. You gotta love someone who is not afraid to be bold enough to send something like this. I am sure he wasn't aiming to knock me down but to merely wake me up. I have a confession to make. I needed woken up. So, this email, the subject line said "a link for your eyes". Oooo this sounds good. I click on the link http://www.ttwministries.com/articles/Read Your Bible Pray Go To Church.pdf and I start to read it. Man. This stuff really hit me hard. Todd Friel has a tendency to do that to a person. So, to get more in depth with this thing. Todd says that when you don't read your bible it is like if you went on a business trip for two weeks. While you are on this trip you get numerous calls from your wife as well as many letters. You never take her calls, you never open up a single letter. Would you say this man loves his wife? If you said yes then you are wrong. If this man loved his wife he would really talk to her and read her letters. Why do we think that God is the opposite. This link also has some amazing stuff on why you need to go to church. 1 John 1:7 "But if we are living in the light of God's presence, just as Christ is, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from every sin." So, if you are a Christian you will have fellowship with each other. Wow. This is just cool. Anyway, read away and remember to pray and go to church to.

paid to witness?

I was listening to Ray Comforts sermon titled How to Get on Fire for God. One question he brings up is "what if you were offered $1000 to witness to someone for Christ". Garanteed someone would wintess like it was going out of style. You would hear people witnessing all the time. However God has given us something much more valuable than $1000. He has given us eternity in heaven. If that isn't payment enough then I don't know what is. This charges me to put more importance of the things of Christ.

a calling?

You know, I believe God works in some pretty awesome ways. Tonight I was reading through this article on Relevant Magazine that kind of affirmed something for me. I have this idea about building/maintaining websites for missionaries. I feel that this could be a mission all of it's own. I want it to be something that is free or awfully darned cheap. I want it to be something that a fourth grader could update. And I want to do this full time for a ton of missionaries. The problem is this. I felt as though I may be wanting to do this to just do this. I felt like I was trying to do something for God that was a good idea with the best of intentions but I didn't know if this is what God wanted. There are still a lot of things that need to play out with this. But with this article I read sometimes you need to do things. You can't sit around and hope God will put something up on a billboard for you. We are such a dense being that sometimes I think we will never get it even if it lands in our laps. So my prayer is this. If this is a God thing I need to do it. God will take care of everything. I am ready to do it. I am ready to go. God, open the doors. Make a path for me.
