power
So last night our power went out for a couple hours. It was kind of odd really. Normally the power just flickers. But last night...it was out. My daughter didn't know what to do with the TV off. Quite honestly I didn't know what to do with no TV, no Internet. I was lost. couldn't function. We went out and stood on the front porch for a while. Then ordered pizza to replace our awesome frozen pizza that we put in the oven minutes before the electric went out. It just was weird.
So after calling the electric company and finding out that 2400 people in chillicothe were out as well and that our electric would not be on until 10:30 (at this point it was like 6:30ish). So we ordered the pizza. The pizza came. We sat down and I turned on a battery powered radio when.... The lights came on. We had power. We were happy. So happy we turned on the Incredibles and ate our pizza.

i almost cried reading this but then i was filled with confusion. is so many people were without power how was the pizza place still up and running.

When we were standing on the front porch the people across the street had electric. How unfair. And the street lights were working.
There should be some sort of defence mechanism that we are born with that allows us to go into a semi-trance or hibenation state when the power goes out. I think that mankind is actually evoling to that end. Sometimes, when I sense a power outage, I'll go on a three day gorge to build up my body fat to sustain be through the power outage.
